Leading Storage Provider Joins Graphcore Partner Program

Bristol, September 30, 2021 – Graphcore announces the continued expansion of its Global Partner Program to include many of the world’s best known and most trusted storage system providers.

DDN, Pure Storage, Vast Data and WekaIO will provide Graphcore compliant data center reference architectures. Their storage solutions will complement the advanced AI computing provided by the Intelligent Processor (IPU) and Poplar software stack.

The new partners are globally recognized storage technology innovators and system development leaders. These technologies and systems are designed to meet the unique storage requirements of AI computing, including ultra-low latency access, working with unstructured data, and managing highly random, non-sequential data patterns.

Close collaboration with partners on validating AI storage systems ensures that Graphcore’s customers can get the most performance and value from IPU-POD configurations as they build and scale AI computing capabilities.

Victoria Rege, director of global partnerships and strategic alliances at Graphcore, said: “Just as AI computing requires different types of processors, it also requires a new approach to data center storage systems on top of the computing power provided by the Graphcore IPU. Our new storage partners are well suited to provide this approach. The addition of these trusted technology providers means Graphcore can serve customers through a richer partner ecosystem. This ecosystem now includes resellers, distributors, Server and storage manufacturers, cloud service providers, etc.”

Many existing members of the Graphcore Partner Program, Reseller and Channel Network have established long-term relationships with storage partners, enabling them to further serve customers with their preferred system provider.

The deep industry expertise of the storage partners will also enhance Graphcore’s presence through on-premises deployments in several sectors, including life sciences, higher education, scientific research, manufacturing, finance and public sector applications.

Next quarter Graphcore will work with partners to release a series of resources for customers, including reference architectures and deployment guides.

Graphcore’s new storage partners welcomed the news:

James Coomer, Senior Vice President of Products at DDN, said: “DDN and Graphcore share a common goal of driving innovation at the highest level in AI. DDN’s industry-leading AI storage, combined with the power of Graphcore’s IPU, is ideal for those looking for exceptional performance and infinite scalability. Organizations with complete AI infrastructure and data management solutions bring powerful new solutions.”.

Michael Sotnick, vice president of global alliances at Pure Storage, said: “Turning unstructured data into insights is at the heart of organizations’ efforts to accelerate all aspects of AI workflows and data analytics pipelines. Pure FlashBlade™ is the leading Unified Fast File and Object (UFFO) A storage platform designed to meet the needs of artificial intelligence. It is purpose-built to incorporate larger, faster analytics capabilities. Customers require efficient, reliable infrastructure solutions that support AI data analytics to deliver faster innovation and expand competitive advantage.”

“The Graphcore IPU combined with VAST’s general purpose storage will help customers achieve unprecedented acceleration of large and complex machine learning models, furthering the adoption of artificial intelligence across enterprise data centers,” said Jeff Denworth, co-founder and CMO of VAST Data. VAST Data By rethinking the economics and scale of flash, it ends the trade-off between performance and capacity cost in storage systems, making it possible to provide flash for customers’ entire data sets. This is especially important in the new era of machine intelligence, where this times, quick and easy access to all data provides maximum pipeline efficiency and return on investment.”

Shailesh Manjrekar, Head of Artificial Intelligence and Strategic Alliances at WekaIO, said: “WekaIO’s modern approach to data architecture helps AI users build and scale high-performance, flexible, secure and cost-effective data center systems. The partnership with Graphcore enables us to bring the next generation of The technology extends to our customers, keeping them at the forefront of innovation.”
